Job Description

The Department of Psychological, Health, & Learning Sciences (PHLS) at the University of Houston (UH) seeks scholars for a tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment at the academic rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Measurement, Quantitative Methods, & Learning Sciences (MQM-LS) program area. Priority areas of expertise for this position are bayesian modeling, item response theory, longitudinal analysis, mixture models, propensity score analysis, bootstrapping, and/or other relevant measurement and methodological specializations. Moreover, we seek applicants that are interested in taking a leadership role in this program area as we continue to rapidly expand and develop a strong core of Measurement and Quantitative Methods faculty. We see this as being quintessential in our mission to make a collective impact on addressing health and educational disparities in our local, state, national, and international communities. Applicants for this position must hold a doctoral degree in measurement, quantitative research methods, or a relevant field. The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of innovative research in quantitative methodology and/or measurement that is published in peer-reviewed journals, emerging or sustained record of significant external funding, evidence of effective graduate-level teaching ability in measurement and quantitative methods, interest in interdisciplinary collaborations, commitment to student success, and service to the program area and profession. The candidate’s qualifications must be commensurate with appointment as an Associate or Full Professor.

Responsibilities include conducting innovative research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals; providing methodological expertise in collaboration with faculty to secure external funding to support an interdisciplinary program of research; rigorous teaching in graduate-level measurement and quantitative methods courses across departments in the College of Education; mentoring students, chairing and serving on doctoral committees; active engagement with the Houston community; presenting research at professional meetings; and service to the Department, College, University, and profession.

Appointment: This is a nine month appointment. Review of candidates will begin January 15, 2017 and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2017. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience and will include benefits. Please contact Dr. Ezemenari M.
