Job Description

The Computer Information Systems and Information Systems Security programs in the Information and Logistics Technology Department are seeking applicants for a full-time, 9-month academic year, tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor rank. The area of expertise sought is enterprise systems administration and virtualization, including networking for enterprise systems.

The anticipated start date of the position is August, 2017.

The Computer Information Systems undergraduate program in the Information and Logistics Technology Department at The University of Houston has experienced steady growth in student enrollment. Currently, the program serves approximately 780 undergraduate students majoring in CIS. Additional information is available online at: http://www.uh.edu/technology/departments/ilt/undergraduate/cis

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, electrical or computer engineering, or in a related area with outstanding academic credentials that clearly demonstrate their ability to conduct independent and successful research and teach courses in computer information systems. Candidates must have excellent communications skills with a commitment to engage in high quality undergraduate and graduate education. Responsibilities for the position includes research, teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, development of programs, and service to the university and profession. Academic responsibilities at UH include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in computer information systems and information systems security, plus providing service and conducting research. Responsibilities of research, service and teaching may be in any of the following content areas: technology infrastructure including systems administration and virtualization, information systems development, and data management.
